About Lisa

The Full Story
A career doesn’t have to follow a straight line to tell a strong story.
Mine certainly hasn’t.
I’m Lisa Dubino, the person behind Pro Resume Works. My career has taken me through human resources, restaurant ownership, hospitality management, sales, digital marketing, and business development. Along the way, I’ve built a business, changed industries, raised a family, and started over when life didn’t go as planned.
The thread connecting it all? Listening to people, understanding what they have to offer, and finding the words to help others see it.
From building businesses to telling your story.
I began my professional life in human resources, interviewing recent college graduates while trying to figure out my own direction. That search eventually took me out of the corporate office, through Europe with a backpack, and into a series of roles that taught me more about people and business than I could have anticipated.
Over the years, I’ve managed teams, developed sales territories, helped businesses reach new customers, and built a digital marketing business of my own. My work has spanned food service, newspapers, advertising, technology, and public relations. I’ve also written as a newspaper columnist and a contributor to The Huffington Post.
In sales and marketing, you learn that a list of features isn’t enough. You have to understand your audience, identify what matters to them, and explain why it matters. I bring that same approach to resumes and LinkedIn profiles: looking beyond a list of responsibilities to find the experience, accomplishments, and strengths that make your story yours.
I know what starting over feels like.
My career hasn’t unfolded separately from my life. Becoming a parent changed my priorities. Later, divorce meant rebuilding - personally, professionally, and financially. I moved with my children, returned to full-time employment, and worked to find my footing again.
Those experiences shape how I approach this work. Changing direction doesn’t erase what you’ve accomplished. But when you’re in the middle of a transition, it can be difficult to see how everything fits together or explain it confidently to someone else.
That’s where I come in.
Your experience deserves the right words.
You don’t need a perfectly linear career to have something valuable to offer. You need a clear, credible way to communicate it.
My approach is personal, practical, and collaborative. I want to understand what you’ve done, what you’re proud of, and where you want to go next. Then we can turn that into a resume and LinkedIn presence that sound like you and help employers understand what you bring to the table.
You’ve done the work. Let’s make sure your story reflects it.
